This is an overview of the work we will be covering this half term
English - as well as the Primary Framework
A study of stories that raise issues eg social, moral, cultural and where characters face dilemmas.
Writing and performing persuasive texts eg adverts, identifying and using appropriate persuasive language
Author study – Roald Dahl. Analysing and using Dahl’s style as a model for our own writing
Mathematics
This half term the whole school maths targets are based on Division. The Year 4 targets are displayed in the classroom.
Handling Data and Measures
Answer a question by identifying what data to collect; organise, present, analyse and interpret the data in tables, diagrams, tally charts, pictograms and bar charts, using ICT where appropriate.
Choose and use standard metric units and their abbreviations when estimating, measuring and recording length, weight and capacity; know the meaning of ‘kilo’, ‘centi’ and ‘milli’ and, where appropriate, use decimal notation to record measurements (e.g. 1.3 m or 0.6 kg).
Securing Number facts, Relationships and Calculating
Derive and recall multiplication facts up to 10 × 10, the corresponding division facts and multiples of numbers to 10 up to the tenth multiple.
Calculating, Measuring and Understanding Shape
Choose and use standard metric units and their abbreviations when estimating, measuring and recording length, weight and capacity; know the meaning of ‘kilo’, ‘centi’ and ‘milli’ and, where appropriate, use decimal notation to record measurements (e.g. 1.3 m or 0.6 kg).
Know that angles are measured in degrees and that one whole turn is 360°; compare and order angles less than 180°.

Music: Keyboards Skills – exploring the range of sounds keyboards can produce pitch
PHSE: Changes
DT: Designing and making lanterns with a flashing bulb.
