This is an overview of the work we will be covering this half term.
English - as well as the Primary Framework.
Sequencing and writing instructions
Writing different types of letters both formal and informal writing opportunities
Gathering information from non-fiction texts on pirates linked to fiction adventure stories.
Writing extended adventure stories – The structure of stories and the importance of dialogue.
Story and performance poems
Mathematics
This half term the whole school maths targets are based on Multiplication. The Year 3 targets are displayed in the classroom.
Counting and partitioning
Round 2 and 3 digit numbers to nearest 10 and 100
Add and subtract mentally combinations of 1 and 2 digit numbers
Develop and use mental calculation strategies
Securing number facts and understanding shape
Represent information in a puzzle or problem using number and to find solutions
Derive and recall + and – facts to 20
Find multiples of 10 and number pairs that total 100
Recall multiplication facts for 2, 3, 4,5, 6 and 10 times tables and the corresponding division facts
Recognise all multiples of 2,5,10 up to 1000
Use knowledge of number operations and corresponding inverse including doubling and halving
Science
Rocks & Soils – How rock & soils are formed

Music: Clarinet - This term the children will continue their participation in the
Hampshire County Pilot Project for Wider Opportunities for all primary aged children. They will have a weekly lesson taught by visiting music teachers from Hampshire Music Service.
Art: Sculptures in the environment based on work by Andy Goldsworthy using natural objects.
RE: Jewish Family Life, Belonging
PE: Games - Athletics and Kwik Cricket
Dance – The Toybox
Drama: Pirates - Smugglers Cove
